Areas under planning
There will be unprecedented amounts of construction in Helsinki in the next few years. The shore areas that were released from the ports will host new residential and business areas in Jätkäsaari, Kalasatama and Kruunuvuorenranta.
There are also thousands of homes and workplaces planned for Östersundom, Keski-Pasila and Kuninkaantammi, among other places.
The planning for central areas of change can be followed on the area’s own web pages. The list of areas is on the right-hand side of the screen. Information on the construction of the largest areas is available on the Helsinki New Horizons website.

Nähtävänä nyt' page (Currently on display, In Finnish) contains the town plans and traffic plans that are under preparation and in whose planning people can currently participate. The site also contains notifications of public events.

Suunnitelma kartalla' service (Plans on the map, In Finnish) lets you view the planning situation of town plans and traffic plans. Planning material for projects is also available in the service.

Liikennesuunnitelmat' page (Traffic plans, In Finnish) contains traffic plans that are under preparation as well as completed traffic plans.

Planning progress
The planning of large new residential and business areas starts with preparing a partial master plan for the area. A partial master plan is a general description of where residential buildings, workplaces and recreational areas will be located in the new area, for example. The partial master plan guides the detailed planning of the area, the detailed planning. Detailed plans are often drawn up in sectors. The planning and construction of large projects may take 10 to 20 years.
